Collection Description display

Bronze mirrors enable us to peep into the social outlook and people's ideas of that period. We can see the characteristics of each era from the aspects of moral outlook, life outlook and love outlook. It fully reflects the strong pursuit of inner self-cultivation and a better life of the ancients. The ancient bronze mirrors in our country have unique charm and infinite charm not only in texture, shape, production and craftsmanship, but also in decoration.

Auspicious lines appeared in the Yuan Dynasty and were popular in the Ming Dynasty. The main themes are multi-treasure, send sub-pictures and other symbolic auspicious patterns. Among them, multi-jewelry pattern is the most common one. It consists of double-horn, Fangsheng, jewelry, silver ingots, books, precious coins and other treasures. At the same time, it is decorated on round or square silver ingot knob mirrors with patterns of cranes, figures, treasure basins, Xiange or Jilin characters. In the layout, the mirror button as the center layered layout, appears to be scattered. The technique of expression is relatively fixed, but treasures and characters are sometimes different.

The casting of antique mirrors reached a peak in the Ming Dynasty, which can be seen from the number of antique mirrors unearthed from archaeological excavations. Among them, imitating Han mirror is the most, followed by imitating Tang mirror, and imitating Six Dynasties mirror is less. Ming Dynasty antique mirrors often have artisan's stamps or years, which shows that these antique mirrors do not lie in falsehood, but more reflect people's feeling of reverence for the ancients.

This collection is Mr. Ye's collection.
